Crash Course in Text-Based Literature Search

Save a lot of time during your research project! The Chemistry | Biology | Pharmacy Information Center offers a valuable crash course on text-based literature search.
This workshop takes place on Campus Hönggerberg and will be held in English. Before registering, please make sure you have chosen the right crash course. All crash courses are designed independently with minimal overlap in content.

Equipment: A laptop with VPN connection to ETH network is suggested; you can attend the course without a device, but you will get the most benefit by working along with the examples presented.
Learning goals:
- formulate a search question and translate it so that a database can understand it
- know different types of sources and understand what part of your written thesis they are useful for
- know the basics of Scopus
- understand search strategies: exploratory, bottom-up, top-down, pearl growing
- apply search tactics: Boolean operators, phrases, wildcards, truncation, etc.
- from citation to PDF
If you attended "A Refresher in Finding and Managing Literature for your Research Project" or "A Refresher in text-based literature search" in earlier semesters, you are welcome to join again, but please be aware that 90% of the content will be identical.
